I think that, before One Piece, I just didn’t appreciate manga as the rich literary form it is. Enies Lobby, Marineford, and the first visit to Sabaody moved me in ways I did not expect at all.

I love that Luffy doesn’t demand certainty before moving. He can be angry, scared, embarrassed, grieving, or confused and still continue in the direction that matters to him.
